This software testing course gives you the complete fundamentals of static testing that QA analyst and quality engineer roles demand - covering reviews, inspections, static analysis tools, and defect prevention.
Start with static testing fundamentals: what static testing is, how it differs from dynamic testing, review roles and responsibilities, and the defect lifecycle. Next, master review techniques: walkthroughs, technical reviews, and formal inspections applied to requirement and design documents. Then advance into static analysis using SonarQube, ESLint, and PMD to detect code quality issues and integrate testing into CI/CD pipelines. Finally, apply everything through Agile and Waterfall QA workflows and a final code review project.
By the End, You Will:
- Build a full static testing process covering reviews, inspections, and static analysis workflows
- Apply defect prevention strategies and QA workflows to real software development projects
- Analyze code and requirements using static testing tools and structured review techniques
- Design a final static testing project demonstrating software testing certification-ready QA skills
Ideal For: Beginners entering QA and software testing; developers improving code quality; CS students pursuing software testing certification; anyone starting a qa testing course or istqb foundation level course journey.
Enroll and build the QA skills software teams rely on.

First of all, this course is outdated and suited for the current v4.0 version of ISTQB-CTFL. This isn't stated anywhere, but you can infer it from the old ISO standards this cours mentiones. Some core facts about testing don't change between versions, but some facts are simply outdated.
Secondly, the course contains drastical errors, with sentences like "The debugging process allows us an early finding of an error and makes software development error-free." (Video "Testing and Debugging") being taught troughout the course, which are in crass contrats to the ISTQB official materials.
Also, the tutor is really hard to understand, with a strong accent, making it hard to follow.
I wouldn't recommend this course for anyone trying to get the ISTQB-CTFL certification in 2025 or later. Sadly, it's almost the only course on coursera for this topic.

I have just finished this course, and I initially planned to take the 2nd and 3rd ISTQB courses as well when I registered. However, over the duration of this course, I encountered two major issues that lead me to ㅜNOT recommend it:
1.Difficulty understanding the instructor's accent: The instructor primarily reads the text aloud, but the accent makes it hard to follow. I eventually turned off the audio and read the material myself, which significantly improved my focus and comprehension.
2.Inaccurate content: At times, the course context does not align with the recommended further reading material. The external resources often describe concepts differently, causing confusion.
For these reasons, I strongly suggest considering other courses instead.

Slides are full of errors and of very low quality. One of the slides has been scribbled over so it can't even be read. Course tutor sometimes mixes up the words, and at times to such an extent the meaning is hard to understand. At one point the words spoken was the opposite of the text in the slides.

Personally has been very difficult to follow. Apart from the strong accent, many words were mispronounced. I wonder if it would be better to just have the script read by an AI agent.

The speaker's English makes it nearly impossible for her to understand. At the same time while explaining the simplest things she is just reading the definitions from the standards. There is no full explanation.

The instructor was merely reading the slides. The lectures weren't interesting at all. She often used complex terminologies without explaining them first. Less use of real-world examples. Examples should be given for all the topics, and sub-topics.
